Curious right? Well, I am Robert Jan Broer, and I started this website in december 1996. Since 24th of April 1998 ODJA (Online DiskJockey Assocation) sponsored me and gave me my own domain. The idea of setting up a website providing people Technics turntable information was because I bought an Technics SL-1100 and nobody seemed to have information about it. (Even Panasonic Netherlands and Panasonic U.K. couldn't help me out) So I e-mailed Technics in Japan and I got an e-mail back from Kiichiro Watari (Staff-member Technics in OSAKA, Japan) and he told me that the SL-1100 was never available in Europe back in the day. Only the SL-110 (same as the SL-1100 but came without a tonearm).
Kiichiro Watari sent me a lot of turntable information that I could publish on my website. As I published the specs on the web, people were sending me more info on turntables and started asking me questions on what equipment to get (In the meanwhile I started out mixing records, and later on turntablism became my interest).

Other interests of mine are wristwatches, computers, darts and a lot of other stuff. I am currently studying informatics and information science (litteraly translated from Dutch to English) at the Haagse Hogeschool in The Hague, the Netherlands. The city where I live is very close to the Hague and is called Voorburg.

People who are regular visitors of Backspin probably know that I was telling that the website was going to be updated very soon. Very soon became a year or something like that. A friend of mine, Stephan Lüpkes, helped me out with the new design and he is responsible for the largest part of the HTML code and the Backspin graphics. Thanks man.
